The Primera DMC concept

Master Direct sowing, Mulch sowing and Conventional sowing with the Primera DMC from AMAZONE

A high degree of flexibility in arable farming is crucial: In dry years, ploughing can be dispensed with and sowing can be carried out directly into the stubble in order to preserve valuable moisture in the soil. After several years of direct sowing without soil tillage, deep loosening helps remove any disruptive soil structure layers and enables effective weed control – followed by conventional sowing.

The Primera DMC offers precisely this flexibility, combined with the ability to make an enormous impact. Whether sowing after the plough, mulch sowing after stubble cultivation or direct seeding – this universal, high-performance seed drill masters every method. The key lies in the robust chisel opener, which places the seed and optional fertiliser into the soil, regardless of the conditions.

The Primera DMC impresses both in small fields and across large areas: it increases profitability by reducing investment costs and at the same time protects the soil by significantly reducing erosion and water loss.

The Primera DMC concept

Flexible arable farming for economical working with high soil protection levels

1. Chisel opener system with single parallelogram suspension and “on-grip” tines. Reliable depth control and closing of the seed furrow by the depth guidance rollers.
2. Model-specific, half-side shut-off or single row switching possible to reduce overlaps.
3. Large hoppers for seed and fertiliser reduce downtime.
4. Model-specific GreenDrill and/or micro-granular applicator for distributing an additional seed, specialist fertilisers or other applied materials, such as slug pellets. Application via baffle plates or through the coulter.
5. Levelling and reconsolidation of the closed seed furrow for uniform plant emergence with the Exact harrow or optional Roller harrow.

System for areas with low rainfall

The Primera DMC allows for flexible mulch sowing and direct drilling

Harvesting the previous crop

Objectives for the combine harvester:

  • Ideally, the chopped straw should be distributed across the entire cutting width of the combine (e.g. use of a chaff spreader)
  • Even stubble length
  • Avoidance of wheel marks, soil structure damage and compaction

1. pass: Stubble cultivation

Objectives for stubble cultivation:

  • Interruption of the capillary water draw in the surface soil
  • Creation of the optimum conditions for a quick and even germination of volunteer grains and weed residues
  • Promotion of straw decomposition by shredding and bruising the organic material
  • Mixing in organic matter to ensure good nutrient mobilisation for the follow-on crop or for creating a dense layer of mulch to reduce water loss

2. pass:

Objectives for chemical plant protection:

  • The use of total herbicides stops weed growth and enables good early growth of the follow-on crop

Objectives for mechanical weed control:

  • Cutting off weeds, burying them and drying out their roots – especially resistant weeds
  • Intensive and even mixing of straw residues to promote straw decomposition

3. Seeding

Targets for sowing:

  • Even longitudinal distribution and a precise
  • placement depth of the seed
  • Placement of the seed into a clean, straw-free furrow with sufficient water draw
  • Reliable closing of the seed furrow and sufficient coverage of the seed with fine soil particles
  • Combined application of seed/fertiliser if requested
