The "Gloria" butter churn

Looking back

Our main factory in Gaste was founded in 1883 as the Heinrich Dreyer agricultural machinery factory. Heinrich Dreyer began with the series production of grain cleaning machines, a tradition that his father and grandfather had already cultivated. He called these machines "AMAZONE" - which meant "heroine" to him.
In order to expand the range, he also developed simpler machines such as straw cutters, beet mills and butter churns. The latter was named "Gloria". These butter churns were used in many farming households,
especially in economically difficult times when farmers made their own butter.
However, the production of butter was laborious and time-consuming.

Heinrich Dreyer therefore created machines that made this process considerably easier and had his design protected as a German utility model.

The brochure for the "Gloria" was designed by a talented graphic artist, while Lisette, the wife of the founder, posed as a model and her image was used as a template for a copperplate engraving in 1905. The "Gloria" butter churn was a great success for several years and contributed to the positive development of AMAZONE.
