AMAZONE is 250 years old
Heinrich Dreyer, the founder of AMAZONEN-WERKE H. DREYER SE & Co. KG, wrote the following in his chronicle in 1903:
My father, my grandfather and even my great-grandfather built a few grain cleaning machines known as winnowers in their wheelwright's workshop. I was told that my great-grandfather sold a winnower to the city of Osnabrück as early as around 1780.
Of course, this winnower was not an Amazone back then; our implements were not given this name until 1893, when they were awarded a medal at the DLG Exhibition in Bremen.
Heinrich Dreyer bought the old winnower built by his great-grandfather back from the city of Osnabrück in around 1925 and replaced it with a genuine Amazone. This can still be found in a "Steinwerk" building in Osnabrück and the "Original Amazone" is now located at our main factory in Gaste, where it is greatly admired by our visitors. It is painstakingly crafted from solid oak and impresses with its solid construction.
We are proud of this attractive historical monument and of the extraordinary tradition of the Dreyer family.
